CMP’s EDTN Network Partners with EDAconnect.com to Expand EEdesign.com Community Offering
EDAconnect.com to provide EDA tools on pay-as-you-go subscription basis
San Mateo, CA - CMP’s EDTN Network today announced the choice of EDAconnect.com as their online solution provider for client-based EDA design tools distribution within the EEdesign.com electronics community Web site. Electronics engineers now will have the ability to link directly from the EEdesign.com community site (www.eedesign.com), into EDAconnect.com’s EDAstore (http://www.edastore.com/) and purchase products from many EDA vendors on a monthly subscription basis.
The EDTN network is the place engineers go to learn more about what is happening in the electronics industry, to obtain valuable technical information and industry resources and to learn the latest in design tools and methodologies. These engineers will now be able to easily access the products offered in the EDAstore and try or purchase them on a pay-as-you-need subscription basis. Within the EDAstore, engineers can browse through products from many IC and PCB EDA vendors, get free trials of the products, download them to their desktop and purchase a license for a subscription period. The store is totally Internet-based requiring no human intervention for the transaction or licensing. EDAstore applications execute on the local PC or workstation requiring no Internet connection for execution and re-architecting of the application by the EDA vendor.
“EDAconnect.com helps design groups quickly, easily, and inexpensively add incremental design tool capacity by issuing limited duration licenses for downloaded tools,” Tets Maniwa, EDA community leader for the EDTN network, said. “This alternative business model benefits EDA tools users by reducing the acquisition costs of the tools, allowing project costs to closely track project duration, and providing access to the latest EDA tools.”
“CMP is the clear leader in publishing and Internet-based resources for the electronics industry,” Ben Franklin, president and CEO, EDAconnect.com, stated. “We are proud to partner with them and be able to round out their community offering to our mutual customers. Having CMP choose EDAconnect.com as a key element in their one-stop electronics industry portal is a great endorsement of our capabilities and responsiveness to customers’ needs.”
The EDTN Network organization will be working closely with EDAconnect.com to enhance the links between the EEdesign.com and EDAstore Web sites making it even easier for users to transition and find the EDA tools they need. The partnership also calls for further joint marketing and co-branded Web site development to increase user awareness of the EDAstore product offerings and the EEdesign.com Web site content.
